UConn has advanced to the Final Four for the 14th consecutive season, thanks to a thrilling 91-87 double-overtime victory over NC State. Despite the Wolfpack being the No. 1 seed in the Bridgeport region, the selection committee decided to place UConn as the No. 2 seed in this region, giving the Huskies what amounted to a home game, albeit 80 miles away and in the same state.
The game was one of the best in NCAA Women’s Championship history, as it was the first to go to double overtime in the Elite Eight or later. Page Beuckers, arguably the most well-known player in the country, scored 27 points, including 15 in each of the two overtime periods, in an epic performance deserving of a championship.
In the annals of UConn tournament history, she has been compared to Diana Taurasi or Maya Moore in order to keep her team in contention for a national championship.
The Huskies will now travel to Minneapolis for the Final Four, where they will face the defending national champion Stanford Cardinal, who came out of the Spokane Region. UConn is vying for its first national title since 2016.
All 2022 Women’s NCAA Tournament games will air on the ESPN family of networks, and all games will be available to stream on fuboTV (try for free).
